The Christmas season is upon us, so are the solid Christmas tunes. 🎶
Remember the times when you worked in an office full-time and Christmas carols played all day? One part of me misses it and maybe even liked it (in the first 2 days), the other part really doesn't...
The truth is, a simple example like this makes us reflect on how the world of work has changed. And how we changed with it. Today, we value more flexibility, greater autonomy and greater alignment with our values. Our job expectations have changed...
As the year draws to a close and December arrives, it's time to pause and reflect. December, a month of conclusions and reflections, offers an opportunity to rethink our priorities and prepare for a new stage of our career. With this in mind, eikko has crafted 12 practical job search tips, inspired by the classic song "12 Days of Christmas," to help you land the role of your dreams in the coming year.
Tune in!
On the first day of Christmas, eikko said to me:
Think about your goals, your priorities 🎯
What do you want to achieve in your career? What are your short-term and long-term goals? What is important to you in a job? Is it the salary, the company culture, the work-life balance? Do you prefer a fast-paced environment or a more relaxed one? Do you prefer working in an office or remotely?
Everything starts with a goal in mind. Think about the type of work environment, the culture, the salary that will best suit your needs and aspirations. Once you have a clear understanding of these, you can start to target your job search and identify the positions that are the best fit for you.
👉 When you create a profile with eikko, we will only match you with companies that align with your goals.
On the second day of Christmas, eikko said to me:
Polish your profile, make it relevant
Regardless of whether you apply through an applicant tracking system (ATS) or directly to a company, your online presence is the first impression recruiters will form of you. Therefore, ensure that your online profile is complete, tailored to the specific roles you seek, and highlights your most relevant skills and experiences.
👉 When you create a profile with eikko, it's important that you fill all the information required so that we can find you the most accurate matches.
On the third day of Christmas, eikko said to me:
Forget CVs, embrace technology 💻
How many times did you ear this? "Don't just send out the same generic resume to every job you apply for, take the time to tailor your resume to each specific position". While this is true in traditional hiring, it's very frustrating and time-consuming for candidates to tailor a CV for each job they apply. What's more? When you go through an ATS, there are tricks you need to use to pass like using specific keywords.
👉 Start valuing your time. Create your profile with eikko. We remove the hassle of adjusting your profile for each job or company. No more keyword matching. Instead, let amazing jobs find you.
On the fourth day of Christmas, eikko said to me:
Embrace 21st-century platforms, ditch legacy
In the changing world of recruitment, legacy methods and outdated practices are no longer sufficient. Embrace 21st-century recruitment platforms and approaches that truly connect talent with opportunity.
👉 Seek out job platforms like eikko that prioritise diversity, salary transparency, non-biased screening processes, and hiring decisions based on what your professional profile and qualifications are rather than your looks, for example.
On the fifth day of Christmas, eikko said to me:
Practice your interview, be confident and prepared 📜
Interviewing can be nerve-wracking, but the more you practice, the more confident you'll be. According to our recruitment specialist, preparing the interview is one of the most important aspects to succeed in the job. Be prepared to answer common interview questions, and research the company and the position beforehand. You want to grab the interviewer's attention by highlighting your relevant experiences and skills that make you a perfect fit for the job.
On the sixth day of Christmas, eikko said to me:
Be yourself, let your personality shine
"Every pot has a lid". Your personality traits align more with some tasks and companies than others. In traditional job search, this is hard to match but when you create an account with eikko, every ability, trait and goal you have will be composed on something bigger and taken as a whole. We will only match you with jobs that align with your personality.
Finally, on your interview, don't try to be someone you're not. Be yourself and let your personality shine through. Recruiters are looking for people who are a good fit for the company culture.
On the seventh day of Christmas, eikko said to me:
Showcase your skills, create impact 🚀
Skills-based hiring is on the rise. It's important that you highlight your skills for specific functional areas or those that are most relevant to the jobs you're looking for. Use bullet points or short sentences to highlight your achievements, projects, and specific technical skills related to the job you're applying for. This allows recruiters to understand your capabilities in a more tangible way.
When you create your profile with eikko, we give you the option to select from +70K skills and match you with jobs that need those skills.

On the eighth day of Christmas, eikko said to me:
Network, build connections with people
Networking is a great way to learn about new job opportunities and get your foot in the door. It's also an opportunity to learn more about the company culture, perks and the type of work environment. Attend industry events, job fairs, join professional organisations, and connect with people on LinkedIn.
On the ninth day of Christmas, eikko said to me:
Follow up, don't let your application fade 🔄
After you submit your application, follow up with the recruiter to express your interest in the position. This shows that you're enthusiastic and proactive.
Keep track of your submissions and applications. There are templates on google sheets of CV tracking to find padres: channel use. ajustar strategies.
On the tenth day of Christmas, eikko said to me:
Have a deadline, if you have a job offer on the table
What should I do if I get a job offer, but I am still waiting for feedback for another job I’ve been interviewed for? The answer to this question is simple, you can negotiate a deadline for both companies:
- One deadline for feedback, informing that you have a job offer on the table. This way they have a reason to be quick.
- And other deadline for giving an answer to the job offer.
On the eleventh day of Christmas, eikko said to me:
Dress professionally, make a good first impression 👞
Your first impression matters, so make sure you dress professionally for your interview. This means wearing clean and ironed clothes, and avoiding anything that is too revealing or distracting. However, if you are being interviewed for a creative job, a more relaxed yet clean might be ok.
On the twelve day of Christmas, eikko said to me:
Stay positive, you'll find your right job
Job searching can be discouraging, but don't give up. Stay positive and keep applying for jobs or, 👉 if you create an account with eikko, just wait for your right role to come in. The right job is out there for you.
